A growing number of universities have risen to the challenge of creating and validating games for impact, establishing programs in games for impact research, design and development. While each individual university has emerged with its own niche specialty area and offerings, jointly these institutions can become a driving force in providing shape and direction to the field. What is currently missing is cross-institutional capacity building. Toward that end, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) has created an academic consortium of leaders at academic institutions with significant games for impact programs. The goal of this group is to outline new collaborations and joint initiatives across member institutions that will catalyze progress in the games for impact domain.
